Cân i Gymru (Song for Wales) is the Welsh language equivalent of the Eurovision Song Contest, an annual event featuring professional artistes singing new original songs, with a public telephone vote determining the winner. The show was broadcast live from Venue Cymru, Llandudno on the 28th of February 2010 and featured the final 8 selected by a judging panel to compete for the Cân i Gymru title.

The amBIENT XC was used to control and coordinate the lighting fixtures used on the Cân i Gymru set. In addition to Cân i Gymru, amBIENT XC was also used for two pre-recorded shows, Dechrau Canu (Songs Of Praise) and Gorau Gwlad, a Country & Western music showcase being recorded in HD.

The studio contained 20 Martin LC panels and six large projectors, while the centre of the stage was lit underneath with 16 Chromaflood 200 and edged with 30 Chromastrips and 20 Pixeline 1044s.

The amBIENT XC's video-to-light feature was used to ensure that the on-stage fixtures dynamically matched the colour of the video content displayed on the Martin LC panels in real time.

Avanti Media was in charge of the production of Cân i Gymru. Lighting Director John Penny Williams said:

"Using the amBIENT XC control system this year saved us a significant amount of programming time, which enabled us to produce more visually spectacular effects for the programme. The system is simple to setup and use and makes our job of coordinating the total lighting much easier."
